On November 30, Shandong Zhanhua Tianma Marine Engineering Co., Ltd held its opening ceremony and began to break the first ship - Jianliancheng, a 10,000 DWT bulk carrier. The annual ship-breaking capacity reached 10,000 light tons, becoming the largest ship-breaking base in northern China.
It is reported that Zhanhua Tianma ship-breaking base covers an area of hectares, a coastline of 1,000 meters, with a total investment of 330 million yuan. The first phase of the project opened the construction of two 3,000-ton dock berths, one 145-meter dock, one 40-ton door machine, two 50-crawler cranes, and 44,000-squre meter of storage yard. The annual capacity of ship-breaking and dock handling capacity are 200,000 light tons and 1 million tons, respectively. The second phase of the project will build four 5,000-ton dock berths, one shipbuilding repair platform, and four ship operation berths, which will have a 10,000-ton ship repair capacity and 300,000 light tons of annual ship-breaking capacity.
Zhanhua Tianma ship-breaking base is constructed according to the green ship-breaking concept. It breaks ships in accordance with the current strictest Maersk Ship-breaking Requirements. The company has planned 10,000 square meters of sewage site equipped with oil collection pool for breaking main engines, auxiliary engines and accessories with oil to prevent oil pollution. It set special waste warehouse for asbestos, rock wool, freon and other hazardous. It is equipped with steam cleaning equipment for cleaning residual oil stains in pipelines and engine rooms. It established an environmental management system, an occupational safety and health management system and a quality management system to conduct standardized management of environment, safety, health and quality. In addition, the base is funded by Tianjin Fangtong Investment Group Co., LTD., the parent company of Tianjin Tianma Ship Breaking Engineering Co., LTD. The base will follow Tianjin Tianma Ship Breaking Company's comprehensive multi-industry development model, set ship repair, ship dismantling, dock logistics and other functions as one, the main ship dismantling, ship repair, dock operation, as well as metal products production, processing and trade.
