As three Korean shipbuilders signed a space(dock) reservation agreement with Qatar Petroleum for the construction of large liquefied natural gas(LNG) ships, South Korea’s share is expected to increase significantly in the second half of the year when the order of large LNG projects in Qatar, Russia and Mozambique grows at fully capacity.
By the end of May, accumulated global orders stood at 72.25 million CGT, decreased 2 percent from the end of April. Accumulated orders in hand of China were26.24 million CGT(accounts for 36 percent), South Korea 22.2 million CGT(accounts for 28 percent), and Japan 12.4 million CGT(accounts for 14 percent).
